Organization Project

Today I got together with my dear friend and we made an organizing folder system.  I got the idea from Home Made Simple and loved it!  I HATE, HATE the clutter and the stacks of papers that accumulate on my kitchen counter, like this one shown in the picture....YUCK!

We bought a

  • basket from Target (or anything of your choice that will fit a manila file folder)
  • manila file folders
  • scrapbook paper - cut to 11"x7 1/2" & 3"x1"
We had on hand a

  • 12x12 paper cutter
  • personal paper cutter
  • scrapbook adhesive squares
  • label maker
We made a list of the folders that we would want in our box and printed labels with my label maker (a must have in my opinion, but I am a little obsessed with organizing)! Here is what I have folders for:
  • My husband
  • Myself
  • Daughter #1
  • Daughter #2
  • To Do's
  • Catalogs/Magazines
  • Coupons
  • Projects
  • Grocery List
My beautiful friend hard at work, I love her! Oh and see our cute basket we purchased from Target!
Here are the finished folders....I sure do LOVE them!
I think this will probably take the place of my family home binder that I made a couple years ago.  So, I will be adding more folders to my system!

  1. Hey LOVE the basket!! With the layout of our new house this idea seems to be better for me than the binder I had in KS. It's all about location & there's no place for a binder in my kitchen which is where I need it!! I had found this idea here http://abowlfulloflemons.blogspot.com/2010/12/mobile-command-center.html
but like your basket as opposed to her "crate". Miss you & I love that friend of yours too! :)

  2. Thanks Teresa! We had a TON of fun putting them together! Wish you could have been here with us! I totally added www.abowlfulloflemons.blogspot.com to my blog favs. Super cute stuff! I like her calendar that she attached on the front. Not sure that I would want it on the front, but maybe inside my cute little basket! Miss you and I LOVE all your family daily life stories!
